Since their introduction, social network sites have attracted millions of users, many of whom have integrated these sites into their daily practices. Today, social network sites have become valuable sources of traffic for websites. Everyday, an average blogger spends hours networking through these social network sites because of their potential benefits.

When we think of social network sites, we think of the more popular sites like MySpace, FaceBook, BlogCatalog, MyBlogLog and Bumpzee. While these are popular places to socialize and network with your blog readers and fellow bloggers, none of them is the most important social network site.

What Is The Most Important Social Network Site?

The most important social network site may vary from one blogger to another but for me, my blog (Blogging Mix) is the most important social network site.

Social Network Site is a website where individuals can set up an online profile, describing their interests, and add links to other profiles. Although Blogging Mix is nothing close to being like MySpace or Blogcatalog, technically, it still qualifies as a social network site. So as your blogs. Here are some reasons why a blog is a social network site.

  • Your blog contains information about yourself. It is your best online profile.
  • Your blog is a medium for you to express your ideas and opinions. You also use it to send your messages across to other people.
  • Your blog contains links to websites you like and you don’t like. You have the full control over who you want to link to.
  • You blog is a medium for you to socialize and network with your blog readers and fellow bloggers.

Why Is Your Blog  The Most Important Social Network Site?

A considerable amount of time I spend online is spent on social network sites such as BlogCatalog and MyBlogLog. These websites have helped me promote and advertise my blog. Because of these social network sites, I was able to increase my readership and daily blog traffic. Unfortunately, I failed to strike a balance between the time I spend to reply to new messages in my BlogCatalog account and reply to the comments and questions made by my blog readers. This is an unhealthy social networking habit, which may create problems for your blog.

As a blogger, the main reason why we network with other people online is to inform them about our blog and attract them to visit it. However, the efforts we put to attract more visitors to our blog using these social network sites is wasted when we fail to interact, socialize and network with them on our very own blog. This makes our blog the most important social network site.
