I’m particularly interested of who visit, read, subscribe and leave comments on my blog. I use BlogCatalog, MyBlogLog and Google Analytics to track them down, which enables me to network with them and build a mutually beneficial relationship.

Lately, I’ve noticed that a few of my avid readers stopped visiting Blogging Mix. I tried dropping by their blogs and leave comments on their posts to remind them of Blogging Mix. At one point, I’ve gone as far as e-mailing some of them and ask them why they’re not visiting Blogging Mix anymore. That was stupid of me as I forgot that they read my posts through Google Reader.
Still, there are a few of my readers who don’t visit Blogging Mix as frequent as before. What should I do to get them visiting back?
After much reflection, I realized a couple of things that might have caused them not to visit Blogging Mix and I came up with my list to do to win them back. In today’s post, I wish to share the things that I will be doing to get my blog readers back. I have 9 of them and here they are.
1. Link to my previous posts more often.
People who subscribe to Blogging Mix receive the full feed via email or through their feed readers. I consider this the main reason why some of my frequent visitors and commentors don’t visit anymore. I have no plan to set my feed to be delivered partially as it is oftentimes annoying and might cause subscribers to unsubscribe. Deleting my feed is not an option either so I figured out to link more often to my previous post from my future articles. Linking to my previous post from my future articles will be helpful in getting my feed subscribers to visit Blogging Mix.
2. Ask questions in my posts to lure my feed subscribers to comment.
Another thing that I will be doing is to ask my feed subscribers questions somewhere in my post that will arouse their senses and hopefully encourage them to comment. Of course, this will require them to visit Blogging Mix as they can’t comment from their emails or from their feed readers. This should help me get them to actually visit Blogging Mix.
3. Use a better “related-post-plugin”.
The related-post-plugin that I’m currently using is not shown in my feed. This means that the related posts found at the end of each article in my blog is not included in the feed sent to my feed subscribers. I will be looking into related-post-plugins available that will enable me to include related articles to the feed delivered to my subscribers. Showing related post is helpful to get my subscribers to visit Blogging Mix.
4. Respond to comments and questions. More active interaction with readers.
In the coming days, I will try my best to be more active in replying to comments and answering questions in my posts. I believe that the lack of interaction with my blog readers is one of the reasons why some of them stopped visiting Blogging Mix. I promise to reply to questions and comments more often. Hopefully, this will help me get them back.
5. Visit the blogs of my readers and leave comments on their posts.
Part of my plan to get my blog readers to visit Blogging Mix is to be the first one to visit them and leave some comments on their posts. This might be a good reminder that Blogging Mix still exists and get them visiting back.
6. Implement a ‘DoFollow’ comment.
When I was using Blogger, the links on my comments were made “DoFollow”. After I moved to Wordpress, I didn’t have the chance to install a ‘DoFollow’ Plugin. Over the coming week, I’ll be making the links on my comments ‘DoFollow’. I guess I will just rely on Akismet to burn the spammers. I’m sure, doing this, will help me get my blog readers and commentors to visit Blogging Mix more frequently. It’s the least I can do to thank them.
7. Reward “Top Commentors”
I’ve seen a lot of blogs rewarding the their top commentors with a link to their blog so I thought of doing the same for Blogging Mix. Although Google took my PR 4 in their latest update, at least I can drive some traffic to the top commentors by showing their links on my side bar. This should encourge my blog readers to visit and comment on my blog.
8. Sunday Link Love Reward.
Every Sunday, I make a list of links to different posts that I found useful. But in the coming Sundays, I’ll also use Sunday Link Love to reward my frequent blog commentors and visitors. This should give my blog readers an even better reason to visit and comment on my blog.
9. I will try to publish one post everyday in a consistent schedule.
Sometimes, blog readers don’t visit a blog because of posting irregularities. I have the same experience with JohnTP.com. In as much as I want to read more of John’s posts, I’m discouraged to visit his blog because I know that it takes him a couple of days, even weeks, to publish a new article. Here at Blogging Mix, I’ll try to publish useful articles on a daily basis in a consistent schedule. This should keep my blog readers to check back on Blogging Mix for updates.
After implemeting these tips, will you keep visiting Blogging Mix? Of course, I’ll try my best to make and offer more useful and valuable information. Anything else that you want me to implement on my blog that will make you visit Blogging Mix more often? I would appreciate if you take time to share your thoughts through the comment.
Thanks for your time!

OK Rocky, I would like to discuss certain points:
=> Partial feed v/s full feed
I think there’s a compromise with which ever you want to implement:
1) Full feed = means you get more subscribers and less visitors to your blog
2) Partial feed = visitors need to visit your blog to read the full articles. This might result in more visitors and more interaction, like commenting..etc
I have been using Partial feed so far though I’m tempted to change to full feed to have another experience.. but I’m still thinking about it.
=> DoFollow
This will pause a big issue in the long run. There’s another compromise here.. You will get less quality comments and more small. less effective comments just for the sake of that “free linkback”.. I have seen blogs like http://smartwealthyrich.com/ sufffering from it and who had in the end to revert back to NoFollow..
=> publishing one post everyday in a consistent schedule
Frequent post, IMHO, does not bring in loyal readers.. Posting everyday also means your readers will not be able to catch up with all your posts and considering how much blogs they are subscribed with.. I believe in the philosophy “post when you have something informative to say and when you will fit to say it”
But I’m not in any case telling you to stop blogging everyday. A good benefit of blogging everyday will definetly be very good for your technorati ranking.
But at times, as in my case once, you will find yourself with full energy and be able to blog like 10 times a day. I will say go ahead do it, blog with full energy when you feel it, keep the spirit!
So, my final point is that which ever trick you will want to use, think well, because each one of them implies certain compromise.. You just implement what suits your “actual” commitment and aims

PS: The other points are just excellent!
Best Wishes as always,
- Wakish -
well i to follow these steps but i never linked to and previous posts in a new post but i’ll try it in soon!
This caught my attention, “At one point, I’ve gone as far as e-mailing some of them and ask them why they’re not visiting Blogging Mix anymore.”. Why did I not get an email? hehe Anyways, I’ve been doing tip #1 but not always, I usually forget that I have a related post about it. On the other tips, I guess I need to do more of #5 but like as you have mentioned, as a visitor I usually just read in the reader so I don’t usually visit a lot.
On point #9, post frequency won’t help much. I even noticed that by posting less lately, I’ve been getting more comments. (ohh this seems like a good idea for a blog post for me.. takes it down.. sorry for rambling here hehe)
Have a great day ahead
[...] some tips? Here’s the latest tip by BloggingMix, how to keep your visitors visiting your blog. [...]
@ Rocky,
Nice post rocky. On my blog I belive installing comment luv plug-in brings back some of my visitors
@ Wakish
I like to do full feeds but the more function make it to do into a partial feed any idea how to change it.
@Wakish,
You’ve raised some interesting points. I’ve had more benefits with full feed so I don’t have plans of changing it.
Regarding DoFollow, like I’ve said, I’ll just rely on Akismet to burn the spammers. Akismet seems to be working pretty well. I’ll update you about my experience.
Concerning daily posting, I didn’t actually promise to do it regularly. But I will try and I promise to give useful tips. This is another technique to get Google crawl Blogging Mix more often.
Thanks for the comments.

@Allen,
I knew you’d visit Blogging Mix anytime soon.
@ Dexter,
I’ll probably try installing luv plug-in. Thanks for the tip.
@Dexter:
If you are using wordpress package, you can set your feed options in:
“Options > Reading > Syndication Feeds”
If I have wrongly interpreted your question, do send me a message via mu contact form with the problem you are having, I’ll do my best to help you out

@ Rocky:
That’s cool, do keep us updated about the progress
Have a nice sunday everyone!
These are some good tips even for bloggers, like myself, who have a very specialized blog topic and aren’t interested in making any money from it.
I agree with Allen : receiving an email every day wouldn’t prompt me to come to bloggingmix more. It might even be the opposite, as I might find myself overwhelmed by the sheer number of emails.
I also noticed that because my article tend to be long, I need to give time to people to digest them…
I may have already said that in a previous comment, but I am aiming at writing at least (and at most) three articles a week.
I agree with all the other points you list. In my opinion the best action a blogger should take is leaving comments in competitors blogs…
Any idea why Google took your ranking away. Is that because of registering with your list of 100 free blog directories ?
@ William,
Google taking away my page rank has got nothing to do with me submitting to the 100 Free Directories. It’s because I did sponsored reviews. Doing sponsored reviews with ‘DOFOLLOW’ link is against Google’s policy.
