What to tell a newbie blogger is contributed by La Tease Rikard of Teasa’s Blog Marketing Tips & Techniques.Â
“I’m going to blog so I can make money from home.”
That’s what I overheard recently while at a marketing conference this past weekend. It came from a kid who was probably about 17 years old, talking to one of the guest speakers. The speaker told the kid good luck.

Children, teens included, are wonderful creatures, and I say creatures as a term of endearment. You know why? Because they don’t believe in failure. They still believe in their dreams.
So undaunted, this kid went off to make his dream come true.
If I could have talked to this kid I imagined what I would have told him.
“Kid, it’s possible to make money online, but you must be diligent with your postings. There will be days that you don’t feel like blogging or days when you don’t have a clue what you will write about. Those are the times when you really need to push yourself uphill.”
Many of us veteran bloggers (anyone blogging more than 6 months) will tell you, those days will come when you look at the computer like another piece of furniture. No big deal.
But, if you are serious about blogging, you should write for your reader, the very person you started blogging for in the beginning. Write for your readers, not for clicks to your affiliate programs. Give your readers what they are looking for, not what you think will gain stumbles, faves in technorati or diggs.
Stay true to the game, write what you know, read about the industry, stay on top of upcoming trends, and give it to your readers. Give them a reason to subscribe to your feeds. Think about newspapers and magazines, you only subscribe because there is a value to it. That you are going to derive a benefit from.
The measurement of success is not Page Rank, nor the front page of Digg. The true measure of success is with the readers who read your blog.
If you were to advice a newbie blogger, what will you tell him/her? Should you advice kids to blog in the first place? Share your thoughts in the comment.

This is a great post for all newbies out there and there are many valuable points to be noted. Thanks for sharing.
But I would like to point out that not all kids are blogging for making money. It is a way of expression, enjoyment, interaction and entertainment. You’re right about children not believing in failure, because they have confidence

My main number one tip:
Learn from the pros but don’t try to imitate them. Sing your own song and let your unique personality shine in your blog…that’s how you stand out from the rest of the thundering herd.
Enjoy,

I’m a newbie blogger as well as a kid blogger (17years old). My goal is also to earn money but before I go to that goal I do first SEO because I believe that it would lead me to big cash $$$.
One thing kid bloggers must consider first is blog only the thing you know and love.

I guess I am still a newbie blogger because I only been blogging for about 5 months. Anyway, in case a beginner blogger would say that to me, I would advice her that blogging is not as easy as it may seem. It requires patience, passion, and hard work. The fruit of your hard work cannot be attained easily. Some bloggers start making money after months and months of hard work. If you really want to be successful, give your heart to it.
This is based on what I learned from my five months of blogging

I really enjoyed this post. I have had many days where I just stare at the computer with nothing useful to write. Thanks for reminding me why I started blogging in the first place

Thanks for this post. I’ve just about passed the 6 month mark, and I’m starting to feel like I’m a blogger now (instead of the imposter I felt like when I started). It’s wonderfully refreshing to hear these things. It reminds me of why I started. Thanks again! Ciao!
I found your blog on google and read a few of your other posts. I just added you to my Google News Reader. Keep up the good work. Look forward to reading more from you in the future.

Hi,
This is a great article. I am a newish blogger and I am finding that the key is to blog about what you feel rather than for ranking etc.
Just as you say!
