Stop Your Addiction

Blogging is addictive especially when it’s your first time to blog. You’ll skip breakfast, lunch or dinner just to write your latest post, reply to your readers or simply network with other bloggers. Sometimes, you’re so addicted to it that you forget to take a rest that will eventually compromise your health. Instead of trying to make money online, you’ll just end up paying more for your medical expenses.

One of the worst cases of addiction that plagues our society is “Drug Addiction”. I remember one of my friends in high school who got addicted with illegal drugs. At first, he thought everything was under his control but as soon as he became addicted to drugs, he lost everything. First, he lost his girlfriend then his friends then his outstanding academic performance and eventually his health. Thank God, he’s got a supportive family who didn’t give up on him. They remained supportive until he recovered from his addiction.

Entrecard Is Winning Over Blogrush

entrecard verus blogrushWhen it comes to improving your blog traffic and increasing your blog readers, two names resonate in the Blogosphere: Entrecard and Blogrush.

Lately, there have been heated discussions about which one is winning the battle, which one is better and which one really works. The point of today’s post is to provide you with a comparative analysis of Entrecard and Blogrush, giving you an idea of who’s really winning.

The Architects

Blogrush was conceived by John Reese, the founder and CEO of income.com. Blogrush was officially launched on September 15, 2007. Entrecard on the other hand is the brainchild of Graham Langdon, a 22-year old internet entrepreneur. It was officially launched at the Blog World Expo two months after Blogrush was introduced.

Comparative Alexa Traffic Reach

By comparing the traffic of Entrecard and Blogrush, we will be able to get an idea of how many bloggers visit these websites. Naturally, the one with a better traffic performance has a more active community. Hence, is more popular and more used.

comparative alexa traffic rank

Additional Information: Entrecard has an Alexa traffic ranking of 7,784 while Blogrush has a rank of 5,206 (As of January 7, 2008).

Considering that Blogrush was introduced earlier than Entrecard, it is not surprising that it has a better Alexa Traffic Rank. Unfortunately, Blogrush’s traffic reach and page views drastically declined since it’s launch. Entrecard’s Alexa traffic and page view on the other hand, gradually increased and is expected to continue to grow.

The Entrecard Advantage

Personally, I prefer Entrecard over Blogrush for the following reasons:

  1. It’s easier to understand how Entrecard works. The concept as to how Blogrush works is still not clear. New users need sometime to fully understand it.
  2. Entrecard consumes a smaller space in your blog compared to the space consumed by the Blogrush widget.
  3. Entrecard is much more customizable. With Blogrush, you can change the skin of your widget or improve your blog title, which may compromise your blog’s SEO, to increase your click through rate. Entrecard on the other hand gives you more freedom to maximize your 125×125 banner.
  4. Pictures are much more “clickable” than letters. Entrecard uses pictures and Blogrush widget uses letters. This explains why I got more traffic from Entrecard than Blogrush.
  5. Entrecard allows you to choose which blog to place your advertisement. Blogrush does not.
  6. Entrecard allows bloggers to choose which advertisements are shown on their blog. Blogrush does not. That explains why you get some pornsite links featured in your Blogrush widget. As a remedy, Blogrush allows you to bann specific words or URLs from being shown in your widget. This is inconvenient to bloggers and does guarantee that unwanted links are shown on your Blogrush widget. With Entrecard, there is no way unwanted ads are shown because bloggers have full control on deciding what will be shown on their Entrecard.
  7. Entrecard has a clearer scoring system. You know how much credits you’ve earned, how you’ve earned it or who gave you the credits.
  8. Entrecard definitely has a better statistic reporting system.
  9. Entrecard is more interactive. It provides incentives in the form of credits for its users to visit other Entrecard users.
  10. Entrecard is also more interactive because it allows it’s members to exchange messages, share credits, recommend each other and do business through the use of Entrecard Credits.

To be fair with Blogrush, I think that the traffic generated from the clicks through it’s widget is better in quality. Those who click on the Blogrush widgets are attracted by the potential information they can learn from visiting the link. This may result to better page views. Sad to say, there’s a drawback to this one. Since traffic earned from Blogrush is highly dependent on a blog’s post title, Blogrush users tend to make their title catchy in hopes of attracting more clicks on their link even when it means failing to deliver quality information.

Overall, I believe that Entrecard is winning the battle over Blogrush. The benefits of using Entrecard outweighs the promise of traffic from using the Blogrush widget. That’s precisely the reason why I joined the growing number of EX-Blogrush users.

Okay, that’s what I think. What do you think? Who do you think has more advantages? :)
