The Parable Of The Lost Blogger

Once there was a stock broker named John who got fed up of his job, submitted his resignation letter and left the company he’s working with for good. John read a lot of testimonials from bloggers making tons of money online and he want to give it a try. Just yesterday, he got hold of the latest eBook from “JavaMan”, which reveals how easy Java made $30,000 in less than one month. John was mesmerized at the opportunity and he is eager to make the same amount of money.

lost man, lost blogger, lost person, looking for direction

Driven by his desire to make money immediately, John purchased a 2 year hosting service with SiteGround and registered his own domain name… www.john-the-incredible.net. John also decided to compete with other bloggers blogging about making money online. He’s new to making money online and he knew little about it but John thinks he’s read it all from the eBook he bought from Java Man. John is also confident that if he goes head-to-head with John Chow, he’s going to beat the hell out of him.

John made his first 5 posts where he shared about how he’s going to conquer the Blog-o-sphere and have it published on his new blog. He then turn to Adsense, got his blog approved and place Adsense all over his blog. He wasn’t contented with the ads, because according to the eBook from Java Man, he needs to maximize spaces of his blog by filling it with advertisements. That way, he’ll earn $30,000 monthly.

The following days, John waited for cash to roll in. He got lazy and didn’t update his blog. He spent his remaining savings to buy a new computer, paid for the internet connection, paid for his rent etc. and now John is broke. It’s been two months since he started blogging and he just made 0.99 in Adsense. It got even worse when John clicked on his own Adsense to boost his earnings. Google is good at catching click frauds so John was caught. His account was suspended, he lost his two months Adsense earnings and has got nothing more left.

John decided to return to his old job as a stock broker. He is lucky that his manager welcomed him with open arms.

Lessons From The Story

  • Make the necessary planning before you plunge into the Blog-o-sphere.
  • The Blogosphere is crowded.
  • Don’t believe all the E-books you read.
  • Don’t believe everything you read online.
  • Blogging is not easy.
  • So as making money online.
  • Comply with Google Adsense’s terms of service.
  • Desire and motivation is not enough to make you successful.
