Weekly Shark Bytes 09/09

It’s Sunday, and it’s time again for the shark bytes. As usual, links to interesting posts helping you to make money online, that you might off missed:

From DoshDosh, the post that got my attention most this week was How to Become a Top Stumbler. I think he’s right. The entire point of StumbleUpon is for people to find interesting sites. It makes no sense to be able to become a top StumbleUpon user by adding friends. Interesting sites and a high rate of I like it from other people should be the only way to get to the top. Also, you might want to check out his Prosense Theme. I’m using it on another blog of mine and I’m very satisfied with it.

BloggingFingers shows you how to get some free PR 4 links. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out the 2 hours of blogging in 2 minutes video.

The Secret to Getting Search Engine Traffic - from Net Business Blog

A very nice series of articles from Earners Blog that I recommend is the Stealth Link Building part 1, part 2 and Social Link Scouting.

From Self Made Minds, Ethically Creating Fresh Content for Free.

Mark from 45n5 created a Top 100 list of blogs helping you to make money online.

Taking Advantage of Google’s Authoritive Domain Status from HarpzOn.

For those interested in going into video blogging (vlogging), there is an article on BloggingTips that should help: 5 Vlogging Basics.

And from Derek Semmler, the Secret to Earning More with Adsense. Interesting hypothesis.

Weekly Shark Bytes 26/08

I’m posting this on Monday because I had a birthday in the family yesterday, but it still belongs in the Sunday weekly shark bytes. There are plenty of very good articles showing up each week, but I’m really trying to bring in only those from blogs less followed, the hidden gems. So, I will probably not link to John Chow, Problogger or Search Engine Land (read this anyway) because you should be following those yourself.

shark-byte John Waraas has an article on his black hat attempts and his results so far in Test Results Of SEO Sites.

profitMachine has an article titled 12 Quick and Dirty Ways to Find Profitable Niches.

On SuperAff.com you can read Grasping The Concept Of Online Targeted Advertising. Read and understand what he’s saying because he’s right. You got to put some thought in the way you monetize your site.

A very interesting and long read, an article from January but still nice, 61 Interviews with Founders of Web 2.0 Websites. Interviews with founders from Digg, Facebook, Craiglist, Technorati, StumbleUpon, Wikipedia, Del.icio.us, Bloglines and more. Check them out if you have the time.

Weekly Shark Bytes 19/08

The Weekly Shark Bytes will be posted every Sunday, since it’s the day I catch up with what’s going on in the blogosphere and usually end up finding some new blogs to add to my reader. It’s also the time I read articles that I bookmarked during the week and write down ideas for posts, so it’s the best time to share some link love. I’ll try to keep the Shark Bytes posts with money making articles only. Hopefully I will refrain myself from linking to posts about finding your inner blogging child or finding inspiration.

Josh Buckley - Selling sites for a great profit part 1 and part 2. How to figure out theshark-bytes value of a website, if you should use a BIN or not, a few details that you need to figure out before hand to be prepared and how to write a description for the sale. I never sold a website so far, so I’m really interested. Bookmarked and subscribed.

Matt Blancarte  - found him via Josh Buckely, and he has some interesting articles, like the one on Adsense Arbitrage and a short tutorial on Wordpress themes (doesn’t go into much detail though).

Blogtrepeneur - making my point about diversifying your income, he made $506 from blogging in July, but only $6 were from Adsense.

Mark from Digerati Marketing - in a guest post on the Jon Waraas blog, called Getting Started: Making Money Online. He does a very good job at explaining the difficulties, revenue potential and promotional difficulty for different ways of making money online, from portals, blogging, affiliates, arbitrage and more. A very good read and I recommend it.
