Ask five people what you need to do in order to be successful when starting an online business and you will probably get five completely different answers.
You will hear things like, “you absolutely have to have a business plan” or “failure is certain without such and such software” or “buy this ebook and follow it” or about a million other possibilities. Although a business plan is very important, there are some very valuable software applications to grow a business and plenty of ebooks can really help a lot… There is one aspect of online business success that seems to be very hard for most people to overcome.Here’s a little story to illustrate the point… A regular guy, named John wanted to start an internet marketing business. Before he began doing anything he hired an online business coach to guide him. The coach did not have any real secret or revolutionary ideas, pretty much the same as the other internet marketing guru’s, but he was honest with John when he needed to hear the truth. John followed his instructions on researching profitable niches and online business ideas. One time John’s coach emailed him with a suggestion that he thought would make it easier for John, but John responded saying that he thought the suggestion his coach made was nearly impossible. John told him, “I can’t do that, it’s too hard. And it will take too much time.” The response from the coach was crucial to John’s success. It changed everything for him. He replied saying, “John, if you think you can’t do it then you’re probably right.”
John immediately understood what his coach was getting at. His own thoughts were the very things holding him back. He decided on the spot that he could in fact do what his coach suggested to find build a profitable internet marketing business. That’s right, he made a conscious decision that he COULD and WOULD do it and that he failing was not an option. Not only did he find a very profitable niche, he found many profitable niches. John quickly started his first internet marketing business selling a good info-product and it turned out to be a complete success. This rest, as they say, is history!
Ask yourself, what could you do if you removed the words “I can’t” from your vocabulary and weren’t hindered by your own thoughts about are your abilities. John knew nothing about the niche he started in and even so his internet marketing business took off like wildfire. He learned more about online business as he went along. He didn’t know how to build a website, but he learned. He didn’t know anything about marketing, but he learned. He didn’t know how to write a good ad, but he learned. His business success had nothing to do with a large starting capital, he started with just a couple hundreds dollars.
Your success at any business venture has very little to do with talent, money you have to invest, knowledge about the product or a whole host of other excuses that people come up with about why they can’t start an online business. Your success does have everything to do with your determination to succeed and perseverance when challenges come your way. It’s all about your mindset. That being said, don’t go throwing money down the toilet just because you don’t want to give up, you still need to use common sense. If you haven’t made any money after a few months don’t decide that internet marketing isn’t for you. It takes a while to start seeing the monetary rewards. You may also want to consider moving on to find another niche. There are millions of hungry buyers in thousands of niches. Keep plugging away until you find a need to meet in a specific niche and fill that need. It will only take a few months to get to know your market.
Every single month, there are thousands upon thousands of people searching for information on how to make money on the internet, yet less than 3% of those people ever actually make any money. The difference among those that succeed and those that do not is that the ones who make money don’t back down when faced with the same challenges that all internet marketers face. It comes down to this, you have to erase the phrase, “I can’t” from your vocabulary. Don’t be one of the 97% that give up right before you strike gold. The very moment you quit is the exact moment when you guarantee failure.
