Page View refers to the number of pages on your blog viewed by your visitors. Your page view also indicates how interesting your contents are to your visitors. A high page view in proportion to the number of unique visits means,
- A greater chance to earn from your blog. (PPC Ads)Â
- Your blog is well-structured and well-designed.
- Your visitors find your content useful, relevant and interesting.
Improving your blog’s page view is therefore as important as attracting new visitors and maintaining them. Here are five simple blogging tips that will help you improve your blog’s page view.
1. Create a navigation menu and put it in a conspicuous place on your blog.
The guiding principle to improving your blog’s page view is to make navigation available and convenient to your blog readers. A navigation link and any internal links for that matter, also serves an important role in optimizing your blog for search engines.
Hence, without a navigation menu, you make it difficult for your visitors; both humans and robots, to go through the pages of your blog. This results to a low page view and a less optimized website.

There are different styles of navigation menu that you can use on your your blog. The more famous ones are the vertical, horizontal and the inverted L navigation menu. For Blogging Mix, I decided to use vertical navigation menu because of the obvious advantages. 2. Use relevant, descriptive and attractive anchor text.
Anchor Text, also known as Link Text, is the visible and clickable text component of a hyperlink. It usually gives visitors or search engines important information on what the page being linked to is all about.
When linking to other pages in your blog, use relevant, descriptive and attractive anchor text instead of using “click here”. By using relevant, descriptive and attractive anchor text, you improve your blog’s page view and optimize it for search engines. Search engines like Google pays particular attention to the text used in a hyperlink and associates the keywords contained in the anchor text to the page being linked to.
3. Link to your relevant previous posts in your current articles.
Linking to your old posts from your current articles helps improve your blog page view. This is also a good strategy to optimize your blog for search engines. In my experience, linking to your relevant old posts also increases comments on your blog. When linking to your previous posts, link to those that are only relevant. Don’t link to your old posts for the sake of search engine optimization. You need to consider your blog readers first before search engines.
4. Show links to related posts at the bottom of each of your posts.
If you are using Wordpress, there are available plug-ins that will automatically show links to your previous articles at the bottom of each of your posts. I suggest you choose the Related Post Plugin for two reasons.
- Links to posts that are related to what your readers are reading is more likely to be visited over unrelated links. Hence, increasing your blog’s page view.Â
- Linking to related posts optimizes your blog for search engines. Search engines consider links from related pages to be more valuable.
For Blogger users, the job of including a list of related links at the bottom of your posts requires a lot of time as you will have to manually do the coding yourself. When I was in Blogger, I use to link to the 5 most recent posts in my blog.
5. Show links to your best posts on your sidebar.
Your side bar is a good location to showcase your best posts, most commented articles, the most recent comment and or the most recent posts. I’m lucky to have Wordpress Dream Theme as it makes linking to my best posts a lot easier. Wordpress users have the advantage of using plugins that will automatically add the most popular or most commented post on their sidebars. Unfortunately for Blogger users, you will have to manually create the links yourselves.

Again, showing links on your sidebar does not only improve your blog’s page view but it also helps optimize it for search engines.

Providing quality content helps too
People generally only read things they’re interested in reading – it’s simple logic. Easier navigation and good design is great, but content is the main reason you can get more pageviews.
