Here’s the second part of the series of blogging tips to help you get Google crawl your website. It is recommended that you take a look at the first part of this series before reading the rest of this post.

So what else can be done to get Google to crawl your website faster and more frequently? Here are the rest of the blogging tips you can implement to ensure that Google crawls your website.
1. Submit your posts to ’DOFOLLOW’ Social Bookmarking Website.
Google crawls the web by following links from one website to another but in this case, Google gives priority over websites with higher Google page rank.  A good way to get Google to crawl your website is to earn links from sites with high Google page rank. The good news is, there are several social bookmarking websites with page rank as high as 9, that implement ‘DOFOLLOW’ in their links. Here are some of the ’DoFollow’ social bookmarking websites.
- Slashdot : Google Page Rank of 9
- Digg : Google Page Rank of 8
- Squidoo : Google Page Rank of 7
- Furl : Google Page Rank 7
- Propeller : Google Page Rank 7
- Blinklist : Google Page Rank 7
- Mr. Wong : Google Page Rank 7
- Newsvine : Google Page Rank 7
For more ‘DoFollow’ Social Bookmarking websites, check out the list compiled by Stephan over at StephanMiller.com. Recently, I made a compilation of the largest list of social bookmarking websites where you can submit your post for extra publicity and additional traffic. Check the list and start submitting your best posts. Just don’t spam their system or it will back fire.
2. Get yourself a reliable web host.
Google’s crawling rate can be negatively affected by a slow server. It is therefore useful that you avail of the services of a reliable web host provider with fast servers. Fast servers are ‘Google robot friendly’ as it facilitates crawling faster and easier. This will help you win Google’s favor.
3. Make ‘Pinging’ a habit every after new content is added to your blog.
Ping your site every time you have made a new post on your blog. This helps your site become more visible to spiders and makes your site faster to index. Pinging does not only inform Google robots that you have added new contents but it also lets other websites know that you have updated your site. Moreover, pinging also has the potential to bring more visitors to your blog.

Here are the most common websites used by bloggers to ping everytime they update.
Take note that you don’t need to use all of the above pinging sites. Simply choose one and stick to it. Using all of them will only result to spamming and might result to getting your website banned.
Most of blog softwares, like Wordpress, has the ability to ping on their own. In this case, you don’t need to ping everytime you add a new content on your blog as your platform does it automatically for you.
There you have it, the remaining blogging tips you can implement to get Google to crawl your website. What else can you do to get Google crawl your website? Any other blogging tips you might want to include in the list?

Thanks for the link. And you’re right. Your list is definitely the most complete list of social sites I’ve seen.
You don’t have to make pinging “a habit” if you’re on Wordpress as it’s built into the system. Presumably, same applies to other blogging/CMS software.

Very comprehensively excellent article! I well remember the blog-and-ping craze of several years ago; I’m glad that’s died down a tad and good solid pinging takes priority.
Have a great Friday,

Thanks for the heads up Lana.
I corrected the link already.
Cool informative article Rocky! Good work!
Also, about the Ping, there is an option in Wordpress to make a “list” of all pinging service and to save and enable “auto-ping”..something like that. So when you make a post, it pings all those site automatically.
I think Feedburner also provide some sort of auto-pinging to like 5 to 7 sites..
Cheers!

In the desert of blogging tips, you are an oasis.
Thank you for some great ideas. i didn’t think Digg was dofollow, but that’s awesome to see that it is.
Also, i see you mentioned PingGoat. I have had no luck with that site. But, like you said, I should probably just pick one ping server and stick with it. So, I’ll pick one of the other ones.
[...] Blogging Mix has a two part tutorial on how to get Google to crawl your website. They’re full of great ideas, and you’re probably already doing them, but a refresher course never hurts. The one tip that I always do that isn’t on this list, is adding your website feed to iGoogle. I remember reading somewhere that if you add your RSS to iGoogle it helps bump up your place in the queue. If your feed is provided by FeedBurner (a division of Google) then you should be doubly covered, right? Part 1 | Part 2 [...]
