Wordpress is a popular tool used to create blogs, but how do you get traffic to the blogs that you create in order to make more money? Here’s a few of my favorite plugins. Sometimes it may be tempting to install a million things just because Wordpress makes it so easy, but stick with a few essentials and you’ll avoid clutter and still keep your blog readable.
Email Notification Wordpress Plugin for More Repeat Traffic
Many internet marketers today are realizing the importance of email marketing, and attracting repeat visitors to their blog and website. The Wordpress Email Notification plugin lets people sign up to receive notification via email when you update your Wordpress blog. This means that instead of constantly having to remind your visitors to return to your blog, this tool can automatically send out an email reminding your visitors that you’ve posted something new, saving you time while bringing more traffic to your blog.
HeadMeta
This little dandy will give you unique Meta tags for each post. Although Meta tags are not as important to search engine optimization as they used to be, they can still influence the results you get from search engines. Using a tool such as HeadMeta which allows you to give Meta tags for each post you have on your blog means that you can increase the chances of your Wordpress blog being found in the search engines. Unique meta tags work amazingly when you’re writing articles and publishing them as standalone entities, but gettting unique meta tags in database driven sites can sometimes be a challenge – HeadMeta solves this problem.
SEO Title Tag
Search engine optimization is the best way to draw loads of traffic to your blog as most people will use search engines to find what they are looking for online. If you do not use SEO Title Tag for your Wordpress blog then your blog’s title tag will probably be the title of your post. By using SEO Title Tag you can ensure that your Title Meta tag is correctly optimized for the search engines.
FeedSmith Wordpress RSS Plugin
RSS feeds are becoming very popular in terms of promoting your blog and website and there are tons of directories that you can submit your RSS feeds to in order to get more traffic to your blog. The FeedSmith Wordpress RSS plugin enables you to use FeedBurner to power your blogs RSS, keep your clients up to date with what is happening on your blog through their favorite feed reader, as well as attract new clients using the great promotional tools Feedburner offers. Feedburner can also monetize your blog feeds to enable you to make more money assuming you meet the requirements. FeedBurner is such a great company that Google bought them, and FeedSmith was such a good company that FeedBurner bought it.
Gregarious 2.0
In a previous post we looked at how Digg can help to attract more traffic to your website. Well the Gregarious plugin can help to attract more traffic to your Wordpress blog through Digg and many other social media sites. Social bookmarking is becoming a popular way of drawing traffic to blogs and websites and you should use this plugin to take advantage of this fact. It will also give you some handy tools to allow you to publish your content directly to Reddit, Stumbleupon, and a ton of other sites.
In order to make more money from your Wordpress blog you need to get more traffic to your blog. The plugins I outlined above will all help in getting more traffic to your blog. One that I left out just because this is a “Top 5″ list and its not cool to do a “Top 6″ list is the Similar Posts Plugin . It will keep users on your site longer, and help to showcase more of your blog other than the current post the user is reading (You can see my similar posts directly below)
Give them a try! I’d love to hear what plugins you use.

Thanx….
This is a great post, installing wordpress can be daunting task for someone with only basic html skills. Especially if you never did FTP. I did find a hosting service that does an auto install and this was very useful. Thanks for posting these widgets, this too is very important as it necessary to find useful ones.
Cheers-
Hey Eric,
Glad you found it helpful. What’s great about Wordpress is that its very easy to install the widgets once you’re all set up.
Another one I love is the top posts plugin (at the top left of this page).
It automatically shows your most popular posts, which leads a lot of people to your best content
I would have to nominate the top/recent comments plugin by Scott Rielly for a list of this nature. Its’ really helped my site since I installed it. And I haven’t even gotten around to configuring it properly yet.
But great list nonetheless. I’ve been looking for a working similar posts plugin for a while.
I’ve found the email subscriptions plugin to be a really good for people getting people to come back – how come you don’t have it on here?
Hey Pete,
I’m using the feedburner version to deliver the email updates (its in the left bar above) in the “Keep in Touch” section.
I like the stats it provides and the way it delivers the emails
God dag! Kan jag ladda ner en bild fran din blogg. Av sak med hanvisning till din webbplats!
