If you use Google AdSense and the Firefox browser, a new add-on we released yesterday will likely save you a lot of time. Instead of logging into your account multiple times a day to check in on your stats, your earnings and key metrics are reported and updated all day in your Firefox status bar.
![]()
Key Features
The add-on supports:
- Common reporting time periods (today, yesterday, last 7 days etc.)
- Custom update frequency
- AdSense stats for Content, Feeds, Search, Mobile, & Domains
- Scrolling notifier or single line view of data
- Customizable actions for left and right mouse clicks
- Secure local password management and login
Where to Get it
You can download this useful add-on here. If you’re anything like us, you log in and check your earnings more than 10 times a day. I’m loving the ability to track earnings right from my status bar!
Please give it a run through and let me know what you think
Ideas for Future Releases
Based on your feedback, here’s some things I’m looking at:
- customize what you see in the status bar
- ability to show all ad type earnings at once (feed/search/text etc.)
- more options around how much room the add-on takes up and where data is presented (tooltip vs. status bar)
Updates

Thanks for sharing !
Thanks for adsense monitoring application, keep blogging and sharing.
Loss of time through checking stats has to be one of the biggest killers of productivity in Internet Marketing. Anything to combat that is a good thing. What we really need is *all* those stats in one place, not just Adsense…
That it definitely something that I have needed for a long time. I spend way too much time checking stats
I installed it and set the options (after restarting Firefox), but I only get ‘view add-on options’ when I hover or click on the icon.
RT: Make sure you have it set to ’start monitoring’ under the menu: tools->whydowork.com adsense monitor
Color me brain-dead. I didn’t even see that. Duh!
The only thing missing is that if I change the preferences, I have to put my password in again. Since I’m a mouse-jockey most of the time, it’s slightly annoying.
Other than that, this is a fantastic add-on that doesn’t require me to bring up a browser to view my AdSense earnings anymore.
The only way it could be better, in my opinion, is if it could show all the stats at the same time through a tray popup or something when you click on it.
yeah the password thing can be annoying if you’re ‘click happy’ but it’s for your own safety!
Great idea for a firefox plugin. It is far too easy to waste time checking stats over and over throughout the day. Every affiliate network needs this kind of plugin so we can constantly know how much money we’re at.
I’ve used a similar add-on to this in the past, I forget the name, but it was about 2 years ago, but I stopped using it due to the fact, that I was worried about security issues. Just a suggestion… a re-assurance of security issues would make me or someone like me more likely to use the plugin.
Till then,
Jean
I could see why security may be an issue.
The same goes here..
This add-on is brilliant, it saves a tons of my time:)
I agree
This seems very cool. Thanks for this add-on.
The add-on is nice. But how about if you use a laptop and you sometimes connect it in a public internet like in Starbucks? The risk of clicking your own adsense by the same IP is possible. (just my opinion)
Why would you click your ad’s? (regardless of where you connect)
If you click your own ad, email google. It shouldnt happen anyway.
I think this guy is more worried about the remote possibility of someone else clicking on his ads from the same ip. Really the chances of that are quite slim unless you happen to run an extremely popular website.
I see what he is trying to say now after your point of view CashBack…. but what I would say… is to just disable the plugin when you are going out, and to never login to your adsense account while you are not at your home. Send daily email updates from Google, which you can setup, that sends you your daily earnings, when you are away from your home on vacation.
Till then,
Jean
Yes I would be a little worried about security implications of my browser being constantly logged into adsense.
This sounds like a great plugin for stats on demand. It would be wonderful if there was one for IE
Thanks for the tips. Is that your earnings?
just a mock up, you’re not allowed to post all your stats
So that’s why you’re starts seemed pretty high =D
Till then,
Jean
Doh… sorry I meant “stats” not starts LOL
Till then,
Jean
Thanks for the great plugin. I am also using your pluging to display my adverts on my wordpress blogs as well. So far it’s the best
awesome! do you mind leaving a review at https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/12735 ?

This is my first visit to your site and I am glad that I am here. I was looking for such kind of plugin which can display my adsense earning directly on browser.
Even though my adsense earning is not that high, but still this plugin can make my mood happier by displaying some earning that I am receiving directly on firefox browser. Thanks for sharing.
great little add on , i’ve been using for a while now and its exciting seing your stats go up and up and up !
Awesome, This will save me clicking over the Adsense all the time. Now if I only I had a Whypark display too. hmm
Great plugin, I installed it but it just keeps saying loading… and flickers to Attempting to login into adsense, doesnt seem to save my password too.
try right clicking where it says “loading…” depending on your settings you might have to do that to get it started.
It doesn’t save your password for security purposes
Still no luck. May its just me :/
Im running OSX 10.5.7. Firefox 3.5
Its working an my iMac, Just not my macbook.
Just to let you now it doesnt recognise our £ sign, it comes up as £.
But it works and im happy!
FireFox just got better….again! This is a great plug-in for search marketers dabbling with adwords. It will definiutely make life a bit easier. Good one guys!
Great idea for a firefox plugin.
That’s a cool features for Firefox, and I’m pretty sure many Firefox users who serve Adsense would like this! I’m one of them..thanks for sharing!

I noticed that the license is GPL and was wondering how to view the source of the addon.
Ignore my last comment. I found the source in my extensions folder.
hi, thanks for sharing your plugin but it doesnt seem to work for me, i am running ubuntu. it installs fine but just says “loading” and then it says “no data available”
please advise and once again thank you
Wow, this will be awesome when I integrate adsense.
i think i still like internet explorer better than firefox.
This is a great idea, and beats logging in your account. For anybody using adsense this is a gem.
You bagged a good domain name. I wonder how much it would sell for.
Great plugin! Thanks for sharing..This is definitely a time-saver..No need to login and check adsense account from time to time
Thanks for this little gem! It works flawlessly in Firefox 3.5.2, but not in Firefox 64-bit with Extension support… But that’s something the Mozilla developers need to work on bringing Firefox to function well on the 64-bit platform.
This is a Great idea for a firefox plugin.
Thanks for the infomation. Did not realize this time saving feature was available. Keep sharing.
good.Yes, thank you for such a good plug-in.
This is a great plugin. Thanks for sharing. I have few blogs I can use this on.
A message from Holland. After installing the plugin and rebooting Firefox 3.0 I don’t see my earnings, but the text ‘Loading…’.
If I look in the Options, I don’t see my password. After filling in and saving it I see still the text ‘Loading…’. If I return to the Options, the password field is empty. I´m sure I saved it succesfully.
Can someone help me? What’s the solution for the ‘Loading…’ problem?
Thanks a lot!
you may have to right click over the “Loading..” text (or whatever button you have set) to open your account the first time you use it.
Thanks for your reaction.
Several times I’ve opened the accountsettings and added my password. But still ‘Loading..’
If I re-open the accountsettings, I must add again my password. Strange.
Do you have other options for solution?

You always need to enter your password for security purposes.
Try out our new sandboxed version. It might help your login issues!

I can’t find the Oct 9 update
version 1.2 is the most up to date copy
Excellent idea and very useful. Just what I was looking for.
The problem is it’s stuck on loading …
Would be great if you would make this available as a Chrome extension as well.
What can I say, It works as advertised (as of late December, 2009). I would ask that the authors add the ability to show two earning periods at once.
JeffD
This add on rocks! but you need to make it multiple so you have the option of viewing content, domains, feeds, search, or mobile at the same time.
maybe I can add that in the scrolling view? Would just mean you have to wait a few seconds to see each one. I could also do a tooltip. Let me know what you would prefer!
Love this little addon but I do have a request: Instead of taking up so much task bar space could we have a setting that only shows the earnings? After all, that is really the only information you want to see at a glance.
Good idea. I’ll work on some more customization options in 1.4
I’m using the FF plugin in Windows 7. One thing I’ve noticed is that when the plugin (apparently) logs into Adsense in a new tab. But, then it doesn’t automatically close the new tab. I don’t know if this is a bug, or if I need to modify some sort of permission, or if it has to do with Window 7. Any ideas?
P.S. – I also support the notion of selecting which values to display. Most of the time all I really look at is total earnings, but sometimes glancing at CTR is interesting. Anything else I would sign on to Adsense anyway and do some real analysis.
It should close the tab after a max of 12 seconds (if it fails on the first few tries). I have 7 on my Mac, I’ll see if i can find a solution. Thanks!
I installed it but it just keeps saying loading… and flickers to Attempting to login into adsense, doesnt seem to save my password too….
This Addon Does not work, its not saving my password…
makes me think its a scam
Actually, it is a security feature that we require you to type it in every time the account details window opens. It is storing your password fine, it’s just ensuring you are the one making changes by asking you to type it in.
