Google Maps Street View has launched for a few major Canadian cities today, and one of our clever readers sent me some interesting co-ordinates in Toronto:
Sometimes I am astounded at how far the Internet has come in a such a short time. Back when I was growing up in the old days of the late 80s, we had a bound publication called an “atlas” that gave a high level details of the earth as a whole.

WOW
The fabled WhyDoWork head office.
I was in Toronto a few years back and considered taking a tour (as I’ve heard the interior of office is FANTASTIC) but I ran short on time and opted for the royal ontario museum instead.
After seeing this photo, I fear I made the wrong choice.
I think it is a little creepy how close we can view things with Google Maps streetview. It is the perfect stalker’s tool. It is cool that big Canadian cities now support their local stalkers too.
@ ATVs
You are right. But it is not inherent in tool to be used for positive or negative cause. It has always been in hands of users & it will remain. What do you think?
It is a little naive to say that it is up to people to use a tool for positive purposes only. A lot of people aren’t capable of making such decisions responsibly. So while it is more convenient for travelers, it is also more convenient for stalkers and pedophiles.
Technology is great, but the potential for abuse of technology is a tad disconcerting, especially in today’s surveillance society. Nothing is private any more, and whilst exposure is great for businesses, it is not necessarily what the average person who wishes to remain anonymous, wants.
It’s cool to know, how is your office looks, after all this time.
I like the idea.
Ahhh free advertising for your business, how cool =D Now if we could only read the last part more clearly at the end of the banner, then everything would be picture perfect! =D
Till then,
Jean
Nice free advert!!
Wow…this is my first time seeing your office..very interesting..I wonder how insides the house looked like.
Thanks,
Lee
once google launches a product that shows the inside of buildings you’ll get your wish lol
I am sure that the government has that sort of technology available to them, that we are as the public are just not privy to yet
Till then,
Jean
Haha, that’s might be quite interesting, but I wonder how they do that. I’m waiting for the day..then I can see how WhyDoWork office looks like, as well as other riches people and artists..really excited!
Alot of the satellites in space already have the technology of being able to zoom in and being able to see a penny on the floor. But technology like this… would be too dangerous if everyone had access to it… you can imagine offcourse.
Till then,
Jean
That’s dangerous of course, I couldn’t image if Google map shows every part of insider house, that might be really dangerous.
Great idea!
I remember using this street view version of Google maps before going on vacation in Australia. It was super cool to be able to scroll down the street to view the area. We even found our friend’s apartment building just based on a photo of the view from her balcony.
Vette + your banner + Google maps
Sounds like a lesson in branding if I ever saw one!
haha a corvette does create the illusion of success
if nothing else it creates the illusion of AWESOMENESS
omgggggggggggggg
Yeah the corvette is pretty sweet. I guess with views like this, car thieves could save a lot of time by doing research on Google Maps.
Google maps have improved drastically since its launch, the picture of WDW looks like a snap clicked by some digicam.
This thing is amazing and somewhat scary at the same time, because you are exposed to the whole world, and this can make you vulnerable.
I strongly agree with you Ravi. It’s scary if one day Google can take a picture of inside of your house, but I think it will not be happened. Otherwise there is no reporter to snap a photo of artist’s house at night.
Yes, internet has changed a lot in these days. I wonder what will be after 20-25 years from now? Will we be on road or air? Will we be ever using a laptop or do everything in brain with additional processors and memories. Man with machines all together a wonderful creation of GOD.
Congratulations! Big Brother has located you! Hahahahah!
The internet sure makes the world a much smaller and intimate place. How often do you expect the view to be updated? A change of signage and a paint job or building will be quick confusing!!!
I would think updates would be few and far between. It takes a lot of time to drive the Google mapping car along every city street. I found my car parked in front of my job I haven’t been at since May.
Yes they can’t exactly update these views very often. It took this long for Google to get around to mapping Canadian cities. I’m sure they won’t be rushing back just to update a few buildings. They would be much more concerned with mapping out new cities instead. So don’t expect a view update for quite some time.
is it your car
i like it
The world is so small, sometimes you can find someone familiar not only in google services but in many more places. Social networking sites are also making a difference and I found many of my recent colleagues there.
Your old…what’s an atlas? Just kidding…but it’s pretty amazing how far we really have taken it. It’s almost even a little scary at times.
Congratulations! Nice Vette also. I’ve had two, a convertible and a coupe. I can’t wait to get another one.
The street view can be perceived as big brother but it can be helpful also. I use it alot when traveling to new areas out of state. It is great to actually see the hotel and surrounding area before you book. Many time the hotels have old photos or they are in run down areas.
I guess you can use it for Good or EVIL!
Yes corvettes are awesome! Thanks for stopping by
