Blogging is becoming very popular as a way to make money today, either by promoting another website, being paid to blog, or using other blog monetization techniques. How do you become a great blogger and make more money with blogging? In this post I wanted to share five tips that will help you become a better blogger and make more money from your blogging. Before I get started, take some time to reflect on these two statements:
There are 100,000 new blogs created every day.
There are over 200,000,000 abandonded blogs.
Don’t become a statistic! One of the largest phenomenon’s I see on the Internet is blog authors giving up because they feel like no one is following their work. Blogs started out as personal online journals; If no one came, it wasn’t a big deal because you were writing for yourself. Don’t count on having a successful blog if you’re constantly disappointed in your site’s reach. It takes time to develop a loyal following, so don’t give up without giving yourself a chance! These tips are designed to get you on the path to success a little quicker:
1. Write About Something That You are Passionate About
The first thing you need to do in order to be a successful blogger and make money from blogging is to blog about something that you are truly passionate about. Blogging takes a lot of hard work and effort to consistently get those blog posts out there and if you are not passionate about the subject then you will not have the motivation to keep blogging. Think about something that you are truly passionate about and forget writing about a topic that you think others will like.
2. Set a Blogging Schedule and Stick to It
Another important aspect about blogging is that if you are to make any money from blogging you need to set a blogging schedule and maintain it diligently. If you say that you are going to post three times a week then stick to this, if you say you are going to post every day then do it. Don’t set too unrealistic goals and then have to change later on, but rather start off promising too little and then being able to achieve much more.
3. Promote Yourself Constantly
Be enthusiastic and consistent about promoting your blog and learn as much as you can about how to market your blog. Comment on other blogs in the same niche. Even if that author doesn’t reciprocate you’ll still be increasing your Technorati authority and bringing exposure to your site when other readers see your comments. Take advantage of all blog marketing methods you hear about and you will soon get more people to your blog.
4. Write Good Quality Articles Consistently
From the very beginning you need to focus on providing quality content and maintaining this quality over the long-term. If people do not like your posts, then they will not keep returning to your blog - it’s very simple! If you constantly provide insightful opinions, advice, and even daily musings you’ll see your readers coming back.
5. Never Stop Learning
There is always more to learn and a successful blogger will never stop learning. A great blogger spends time reading other blogs, gathering ideas, and staying on top of current industry news. If you see a great news story on CNN or Google News, don’t be afraid to republish it to your site - It’s likely that many of your readers haven’t seen it yet, and you’ll be breaking the story first.
If you only take one word from this post, let that word be
consistency
. Consistency in your post frequency, promotion, quality, and learning are the keys to success. What is the best blogging tip you’d offer your readers?

Wow! We couldn’t have said it better ourselves!
While our blog is still new, we know it has legs. We chose a topic that we are very passionate about and we have a very long list of topics we are going to blog about. Even at 5 new posts a week, we have months and months worth of topics in the queue!
Quality is definitely king! If you don’t create quality posts, you will not be around long.
Probably the most time consuming part of having a blog, or at least having a new blog, is promoting and learning. We are constantly on other blogs, in forums, and anywhere else we can be to promote our blog. And we are constantly learning about blogging in general, and what is hot in our niche.
Blogging is definitely very rewarding, but it is also not as easy as it looks. Hopefully a large readership with be the reward in the end. Not to mention personal satisfaction!

Good tips all around. I think that if you want to be a blogger longterm it is good to have a little bit of a vision before you start as to what your message will be.
But also remember to evolve a niche around your personality, interests and what you think others can learn from your experience

I’d be willing to bet money that a goodly proportion of those abandoned blogs are made up of mainly blogs bulk generated by spammers, blogs used for domain name parking by speculators, and then truly abandoned blogs by owners who for whatever reason couldn’t keep them going.
What’s a bigger shame is that if there are so many unused blogs, there must be some killer keyword rich domain names lurking in there that internet marketers would love to get their hands on!
What are the chances of that happening?

Great post! Blogging is hard to keep up with but well worth it if you stick to it.
Good point Terry… there must be a ton of great domain names sitting on those abandoned blogs that many people would love to get their hands on.
I will admit I have a few blogs out there that I have abandonded for one reason or another. But none of them had their own domain names.
