Have you ever thought about what you know that people might pay to learn? Regardless of our differences in skill sets, each of us has something that we can offer, and we can sell our knowledge in various ways. In this post I’ll examine how you can sell your knowledge and make money from things you already know!

Content Websites – The Most Popular Way of Selling Knowledge

One way that people often choose to sell their knowledge is through creating content websites, but unless you combine this with other streams of income it is not necessarily the most powerful way of selling your knowledge. Content websites can be useful as a way of getting people interested in your website, but you’ll need to be offering products afterwards to increase your profitability. The most common example I see are simple websites with a few well written, unique articles, and some complimentary products listed from Amazon or other shopping affiliate programs.

Membership Websites – Make Recurring Income with Your Knowledge

Membership websites are a powerful way of selling your knowledge as this encourages people to pay you for your knowledge, not once but on an ongoing basis. Recurring income is always a great way to make money because it assures you of ongoing income even at times where you may not do much work! :) One great element of this is that the process can be entirely automated with PayPal. WhyDoWork offers a subscription service for $1.66 a month. It’s entirely managed by PayPal and saves us countless hours processing payments, activating accounts, and ensuring member dues are paid. If you’re thinking of making a membership site, I can’t stress enough how important a service like PayPal Subscriptions is.

eBooks or Software

Another fairly popular way of making money online is selling eBooks or software. This starts with finding something you know about that you think would benefit others, and then selling this knowledge in the form of an eBook or software. If you feel that your writing skills are shaky or you have no idea what a print statement is, you could always hire someone else to do the actual writing or programming and share with them what you know about the subject, or what your software requirements are.

Offline Classes

Offline classes are another way you can sell knowledge, and possibly even promote your online business as well. This is probably the most effective of the methods above but sadly it is often the most overlooked. There are millions of websites on the topic of making money online; how many classes or mentors in your community on the subject do you know of? Exactly. The Internet has become the “easy way out” but there is still money to be made with face-to-face contact. Aside from straight up instruction, you could for example, teach people using the software you are selling and then encourage them to buy it from you. You could also encourage them to read the eBook you are selling or join your membership website for more information or assistance.

Selling knowledge is an excellent way of making money both online and offline. So use what I’ve just taught you (for free :) ) and starting expanding your income channels!
