Of course I’m only kidding, but have you ever felt like you have run out of things to talk about on your blog? I am fortunate enough to have our forums to go to for inspiration as our members are always talking about the latest and greatest in the world of making money at home, but what about those times when you just can’t seem to come up with something useful to talk about?

Lots of bloggers I follow will fill their blogs with updates on contests or paid reviews of anything under the sun but I don’t think you need to go that far in order to keep your blog fresh. Below are a few tips I came up with to save you from writers block:

First Try: Take a Look at What’s Going On in the News

Visit a site like CNN or even Digg.com to see what new. If you blog is about a specific niche, take a look at the subcategory on these news sites covering your niche and look for a topic you’re interested in.

Second Try: See What your Fellow Bloggers are Talking About

If you’re using iGoogle it should be easy to see what the blogs you follow have been talking about. Read all the posts that interest you very carefully. I stress the words very carefully because you should be looking for how you can possibly argue a point in one of their posts, re-spin the topic, or add some additional insights.

Third Try: Visit Forums

Visit forums within your niche (like ours if your niche is making money online) and look for hot topics. Unfortunately it is often the case that bloggers and news outlets are not reporting the most accurate news, but a collective community usually gets it right. I remember when the downturn of Agloco was just around the bend, it was in our forums that I first noticed a buzz. By regularly reading forums and staying in the loop you can get the best chance at reporting a breaking story first.

Fourth (and Final) Try: Talk About Something Personal

If you’re really hurting for a topic, talk about something personal. A recent vacation, a restaurant you’ve eaten at, something you’re excited about, or your current mood. For example, If I really wanted to I could talk about how I am disappointed that the last two episodes of one of my favorite shows Dexter were leaked online. On top of that, many of my friends have decided to watch the episodes and constantly make reference to upcoming plot twists which I have yet to see! Needless to say there is an episode that will be new to me starting in a few minutes so my disappointment won’t last. :)

If you’re a blog writer, how do you come up with fresh content?
If you’re a blog reader, do you like when authors write on topics outside their niche?
