I’ve been using Yahoo! Buzz for quite a while. I wasn’t aware it was in beta, or that is was partially closed.

Personally, I find the front page a little confusing. But I’m sure it’ll improve given time…

Great post, though I will point out that I live in Australia and have been able to sign up for Yahoo Buzz, so maybe things are moving faster now?

As has been noted before here, the increase in traffic from social networking sites is nice, and alhough I’m big on the benefits of social networking, and often write about it, nothing beats beats solid keywords and SEO principles.

I agree…I’m a big fan because it services the non-tech audience which is massive (vs. the crowd that hangs out at Digg)

@ the Doctor of Wrinkles:
It is true that the short burst in traffic isn’t as valuable as the long term benefits of the links you’ll receive as a result. However, I have had users find my blog from Digg and become regular readers so I imagine it is possible to capture some volume of repeat visitors from the massive burst.

Everyone is always chasing after getting on the Digg frontpage, but for all the wrong reasons. You don’t want your server to be subjected to Digg traffic because your story hit the frontpage. What you do want is a massive number of backlinks pointing to your site. This is the only kind of benefit I see from hitting Digg’s front page.

It’s not open to the public yet, but i suggest getting on the mailing list i linked to as soon as you can to avoid the rush once it opens up.

@Felex:
You’re right..it’s the same as getting a boost from something like stumbleupon, its a temporary explosion of traffic that quickly dies down, BUT, from that explosion if your content is good you should be able to retain some visitors as regular readers.

Many bloggers rely on these kind of programs to boost up the traffics,i might not agree with that because it is just a short term traffics.Although it is quite hard to get top rank at search engine,but it is worth that we put effort on it.
