Microsoft thinks so. Their new LIVE Search Cashback program rewards users with cash for using the site. Instead of just rehashing what’s written on their site, take a look at how it works:

This program isn’t rocket science. Consumer product searches make up a huge percent of overall search traffic. About 1/3 of all search traffic is commerce related, however this fraction of queries makes up over 80% of all advertising revenue online. Above a win-win situation for consumers, it also gives Microsoft a chance at putting a dent in Google’s core business.
