Adding AdSense to your blog won’t affect your PR at all. The code is inserted with JavaScript so links don’t impact any ranking of your site. Other advertising means, (like text link ads) will affect your rankings, but using Google’s will not. (slightly anti-competitive)

This is the reason why I am having my second thoughts of putting adsense in my blog. I want to establish my page ranking. But, I am worried I might do something out of my ignorance that would block my goal to get a higher PR. I was thinking of putting alternative revenue in my blog instead of applying for the adsense to preserve my PR. If I will apply to other advertising comp like bidvertiser instead of G's ads, will it affect my PR too? metropolismoms last blog post..For Janice and Baby Angel

Well we’ve lost all the revenue from paid text links and haven’t made plans to sell them privately yet, so yes advertising is down, but likely a temporary issue.

@ Andy:
I was hoping it would too, but if you look at the PageRank of the blog, it is showing as N/A in the toolbar. It used to be 5 until we merged the three blogs together. I’m assuming that a ‘flag’ is tripped when you get too many backlinks at once (even if legit 301 redirects) are used that places you in the sandbox. Aside from the bump we took for paid links, we did get a second slap when we merged our sites together.

I would hope the way you have merged content would be looked on as legitimate, as many much larger sites often merge acquisitions into their portals. The content is the same, and deserved the links it acquired organically. Andy Beards last blog post..Gmail Team - Please Fix These First

That is totally true..you know you committed a crime, but you’re not given any details on what your crime is, or if you’ve met the criteria to get back in the game.
