Affiliate marketing is a very popular means of making money online today, but what do you look for when choosing a good affiliate program?

A Great Affiliate Program Supplies Products People Are Searching For

In order to choose a great affiliate program you need to begin with market research. Spend time in forums (see the blue “forums” tab above ), email groups and other places where your target market will meet and find out what they are looking for and what they are prepared to pay for. If you sell something that people want then you will be more likely to make money online, so carefully select your products in line with your market research.

A Great Affiliate Program Offers a Great Commission Structure

Another aspect with a great affiliate program is that it needs to offer good affiliate commissions. Affiliates do much of the marketing work for the company and as such deserve to be well remunerated. What this commission rate is will vary largely depending on the type of product you are promoting – digital download products such as eBooks can offer a much higher commission rate than physical products due to the extra costs associated with the manufacture and shipping of the physical product. Although the commission rate may be higher with digital products this does not necessarily mean that the dollar amount will be higher as many physical products will also be more costly than digital products and so you could end up with the same dollar amount or even more.

A Great Affiliate Program Has a Good Affiliate Support Service

A great affiliate program will also offer great support to their affiliates. This support at the very least should include good sales reports so that you can keep track of what products you have sold, but can also include advertising materials, tracking links, affiliate training or other services.

Consider Your Trust for the Company When Choosing Great Affiliate Programs

Do you trust the company that you are going to be promoting? In order to have success at promoting affiliate products, you need to trust the company and the product in order to convince others to do the same. If you have any queries then rather do not choose this affiliate program or product.

Consider How Often You Will Receive Payment

When choosing a great affiliate program you also need to consider how often you will be paid out and what these terms are. Some affiliate programs pay twice a month, some once a month, while others only pay once every quarter. In general you will want an affiliate program that pays out at least once a month, if not twice. This, however, is something that you will need to decide for yourself.

Choosing a great affiliate program requires choosing a company and product that you trust and that is in demand with the public. You should also consider their commission rates, how often you will be paid, as well as any other affiliate services that they offer.
