I got a note from Yahoo! about an hour ago announcing that their buzz site is now open to the public. IF you recall my previous post on the topic, Yahoo! is in position to be a serious competitor to popular news site digg.com.
If You Own a Site, Sign On
Yahoo! buzz allows users to submit news stories, and these stories are voted up by the sites’ community of
users. By submitting your own stories, or placing buttons on your site that allow your readers to submit you can help drive traffic to the site.
Only time will tell if buzz can defeat digg.com, but for mainstream users and non-techies, it may just have what it takes.

I’ve never been a big fan of digg so hopefully buzz does take them down!

I had seen the buzz up sign (button) on a couple of news magazine sites. I didn’t know it was available to everyone.

I guess Yahoo Buzz - with the back up of brand name and the resources - will easily move past Digg.
Cheers!

Thanks for the info! I use Yahoo quite frequently, but didn’t know this was happening. I am a HUGE Digg user, so hopefully Buzz will work as well! Thanks again

Hmm.. My stories often get ‘buried’ - any tips on NOT to getting buried in Buzz?
Cheers!

I agree with your post. Which is not something I will usually do!
I enjoy reading a post that will make one think. Also, thanks for allowing me to comment!

Yes I heard about it, but it seems like Twiiter has superceded them on this baby.

Thanks for the heads up…
I do like the Buzz Widget - it’s a great way of getting fresh content onto your site and it’s reasonably configurable.
It would be even better, though, if they gave us some options on the colour!
Thanks again,
Cheers,
Martin.

I’ve seen Yahoo! buzz and it’s not far from iGoogle’s news updates. But it looks great though.
