My opinion of Amway is that is was once the king of all MLMs, but technology has now changed the face of MLMing. And as the saying goes, it's hard to teach an old dog new tricks.

There are some very good companies out there now that are taking advantage of newer methods.

Look around before making a decision to go with Amway.

Wow...and I thought I was the only one drawing circles on a poster board. LOL...yeah quixstar sucks. I would spend over $200 a month on stuff I could have bought at wal mart for $65. What a joke. I think I ended up making like $32 from them.

Amway/Quixtar is said to be the fastest-growing and largest MLM company on the planet. It clearly works. I wouldn't touch it myself but in the global marketplace its clearly here to stay.

I think I commented earlier about the marriage-centric culture in Amway. Some people like that stuff.

Its clear that Amway was built in the USA in a time very different from today. Single-car households left the housewife with no transportation. The distribution of goods within the neighborhood through companies like Amway clearly worked in yesterday's America. Its a tired model here now, but in other countries the distribution model may be very effective these days.

I know a fortune was made by the folks who took Herbalife into Mexico. I am sure that fortunes are being made abroad with Amway as well. The products are said to be generally high-quality.

I did shacklee years ago and a friend of mine has been trying Amway for about 3 years and has done very little.

I came across a tele communications company that I feel is a very good company.

You are paid for the work you do, and you can also use the MLM part of the company.

I have not gotten rich but I have made enough to keep me going.

I was with Amway A LONG time ago (back in 1991 or 1992)...I actually made some money promoting MCI at the time (door to door), but I think I broke even, considering all of the money I spent to get started.

I think one of the biggest joaks about their company was that in their seminars, you would hear people talking about "negative" products which were ANY OTHER BRANDS NOT AMWAY.

They have a new internet company called "Quixtar" which cost about $180 to join. While some die hard Amway folks will disagree, I think that much of the wealth generated at Amway is by sign up fees and by their agents over paying for Amway products to avoid the less expensive, but superior quality "negative" products on the market.

Hi Everyone this is what happened to me I went to a Amway meeting at a Hotel and at the end they get real aggressive and the lady tried to lock me in. I was freakin as I was just comin to look. You do not need to be in any company that has to lock you in to sign. They must be hiding something. Amway makes the majority of their profits off of members selling and buying sales material don't kid yourself. If it was as easy as Amway says the market would be saturated and it's far from that. I've joined a MLM company and am vey happy.

It is no wonder when presenting your biz opp to some they are so paranoid about mlm/network. due to negative testimonials and bad experiences from people who have been "burned" by the bad guys...It is so sad...because there really are great opportunities out there (I can persoanlly attest to that)...however, it seems some people face a difficult time when opening the doors to an opportunity that could elevate them to a "Higher and New level" in life.

I think the guy is on the right track asking and also if you do your thourough researches and investigations on these companies...you will find that their "bad practices" have already been cited by the proper authourities. Check to see if they are listed with the BBB...Check to see what the FTC has on that company,Check other Available Resources...etc.

When I feel I might have a great company and heard no complaints, I would still run a thourough investigation and research to see if it checks out...although, I would not rely too heavily on the opinions of others especially when I'm not signing into any contractual long-term agreements,(month/month usually works...) or the company offers risk-free factors...(money back for ex)...That way there is a feeling of safety in joining...

What I mean about the opinions of others...Is that sometimes people join mlm/networks. and due to their poor efforts or mishaps to make their business work...they might have a tendency to "shun" a great Company...(sorta like shifting blame)...I always try to be think objectively ...and be open about things....If there is a great niche/plan of action, awesome support, great pay offs (depending on my productivity) and residuals and benefits if you like...then I can pretty much work from there.

Oh, one other thing I found to be extremely important to me when joining great opportunities...is a great sponsor! To make a long story short...I have ran into some were great from the beginning and soon "checked-out". On the other hand I've had sponsors who were Super-Great! And guess what a super great team can make a difference in the retention level for all!

Okay guys, this is just my personal take on things from my view point...if I've worded anything in a "not so great"....oh well.... (lol)...

My experience with amway/Quixtar,
I joined Amway back in early 90's. At the time for me it was my first mlm business opportunity. My upline was very supportive and very encourageing. They would host meetings in their home and when I needed them to show up at someones home to draw circles they would be there. I learned how to draw circles pretty good and had started doing my own meetings and drawing circles for my prospects. By the time I learned how to draw the circles and got good at it i noticed that I was still not makeing any money. I also noticed that my upline was pressureing me to to buy books and tapes on a weekly basis and would get upset if I didn't purchase any books or tapes, stateing that I needed to meet my monthly BVP. Well I finally got fed up with the attitude that my sponsor was giving me on a weekly basis for not buying anymore tapes and books. I realized that my sponsor wasn't really trying to help me to grow but was just trying to get me to purchase books and tapes and didn't care if I was makeing money or not as long as I was buying books and tapes to put money in there pockets.

Well a couple of years later, right before the start of the new company Quixtar's launch of the internet business. I ran into another Amway representative in a different State. They told me about how Quixtar is about to launch and I need to get in before the launch so that my position with the company would be a higher paying position if i got started before the launch then after the launch, so I paid to get involved again. I learned again how to draw circles, bought tapes, etc. I still did not make any money. At that time in life i was thinking to myself this company has great products but it is hard to change someones buying habbits from shopping at there favorite stores, Wallyworld etc. to shopping at home and spending money on a monthly basis. Some people do not need to buy certain products on a monthly basis because the product may last longer than a month.

Well to wrap up my experience, I believe that Amway has wonderful products but marketing their products the way they do is not the best marketing opportunity for this time and era. I read someones statement in another forum that if you joined Amway back in the early 80's you would probably be ok like most of the early Amway business owners but in today's world its very hard to make any money with the company with the same payment structure that they have. That payment structure worked good back in the early 80's and I think that the company needs to change their payment structure to fit what is working in todays society.

Thanks for reading my experience.

I wish you much success in your business.
