Even if it wasn't a scam, would you really want to stuff envelopes for a job?
Thats probably more degrading working at McDonalds.

These are all scams. Envelopes are stuffed by machines in real life. If you want to prepare direct mailings for companies, that's a different story, but you need training and know-how, the Post Office has training centers in every state for this. You can also get free information from the National Mail Order Association, http://www.nmoa.org on all aspects of the business.

actually I helped someone do this once and it was completely real. We had to fold the contents and place a small magnetic badge card inside the evelope. However, I think most advertisements for this are scams, just there are a few real ones out there.

not worth it. you gotta sort, fold and then stuff. you'd have to work 15-20hrs/day to make good money.

I used to do it for real about 12 years ago. Our church did it as a fundraiser for Boy Scouts or something. I'd rather work for minimum wage than do that....

Think of your poor hands. Paper cuts suck!!!

Doing it to help your church is FAR different than doing it as a business. Most of them are SCAMS. Businesses use machinery or their own staff now to stuff their own envelopes.

Most envelope suffing businesses that I've come across are comprised of a "package" that you must purchase for anywhere from $15 and up. This package more often than not is just instructions on how place ads to lure people into buying the package which you then mail to them for the same fee.

Stay far away. They are pretty much ALL scams (with the exception, as it's been stated, of churches, etc.).

You will pay a $X.oo fee (NON-refundable, usually said to "weed out the people who aren't serious", or "for start-up materials", etc.)

Then you'll receive a junk packet in the mail within a week or two, with a bunch of flyers that YOU need to advertise. You don't make ANY money unless you do this because the envelopes you "stuff" are coming from people YOU recruit! (You will need to spend a billion hours advertising with the hopes that someone will eventually fall for it and mail you a check. You take their mail and send them a flyer. Stuffed envelope, get it? )

Yeah, hard to explain, but if you've gone through it, you feel silly and ripped off.

Stay away!
