The best method to get free traffic to your web site is writing and submitting articles. The only real disadvantage of this method is that you need time to write your articles. Dollarswealth, thanks so much for your generous sharing. i cannot agree with you more. And this is also the strategy i have been adopting. yes, this is not a easy task and needs time and patience. While the process is a litter bitter, but the result is sweet in the long run.

What i want to add is that the article you are devoted yoursel to must be created by yourself. of couse you can serch some related material, but make sure it is yours not only the copy of others'. in this way, you will be early and well embodied, thus convert into more traffics.

Write 30 articles and submit them to 30 article directories and you also get 900 backlinks. It is a good idea to submit to EzineArticles first and when your article gets approved there, then to others.

I'm sure 30 articles would do the trick, but I can't imagine pushing myself to get it done. It's almost like being back in school with all the homework. I get my backlinks by just commenting on appropriate blogs in a few seconds each and it pushed my blog to a top listing on Google in a few days.

All about targeted traffic for me and I get that with articles, blog comments and forums. Best thing is that articles can get published on other sites (many of mine have) and you get the back links + traffic from them as well.
