What are your thoughts on Google Adwords?

Postby GTODLifeCoach on Fri Mar 20, 2009 1:29 pm

I personally feel that Google Adwords is a waste of money. I'm not trying to be mean or negative, but I have used them quite a few times and feel that paying for clicks really doesn't make financial sense.

If someone is just curious and clicks on the link but doesn't inquire or do anything else, then it's money down the drain! I found my Google adwords balance going up & up with really nothing to show for it.

Has anyone else had the same result? Or do you have any tips to improve this?

I feel that networking and seeking to connect with others works best. :D

Hey There,

I've tried adwords with good results, the thing is that you need to educate yourself about it first and then build up your campaigns with the goal in mind to learn and then profit from it. I also feel that social media is very powerfull, so in my case I use both methods.

I think it's great. Adwords allows you to get to the first page of Google without SEO or Writing articles! As soon as I pay them back I'm going to start using them agian. I fell asleep and forgot to pause my campaign

Try puting the price on page it will prevent people who are freebee hunters from clicking.

One of the next things I'm going to try is just using one keyword at a time as opposed to what's recommended nowadays. I haven't tried it yet though. But good luck.

Hi GTODLifeCoach

I'm afraid I've to disagree with you. What I personally think is Google adword is a very good way to get targeted traffic to your site. Of course, it costs money. It is set up and in minutes you are ad served to millions of web browser.

Actually, I kind of agree with you. PPC advertising has its advantages, but the point is at the end of the day you want to make money, not get hits.

The ROI you get on Google is gonna depend on your niche and how well you can get your quality score down so you clicks to go down. But there are other PPC services that are just as good and cheaper, although their market is small.

MSN is actually been rated to have the best conversion rate for the cost per click rate. I use 7 search which has incredibly targeted traffic, and I sold a couple things with them.

However, if you're going to spend on advertising, it's more cost effective to pay $100 for a solo ad to reach 50,000 already targeted newsletter subscribers than it is to spend $100 for 300 clicks which people may or may not buy.

Ezine advertising, baby.

I too have recently started with google ads. It was really easy to set up and I set a limit on what to spend. So, far I have a few clicks.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to respond. I still haven't had the greatest luck with Google, but if I decide to use them in the future, I will take some advice from you all. I personally agree with the gowriter, "if you're going to spend on advertising, it's more cost effective to pay $100 for a solo ad to reach 50,000 already targeted newsletter subscribers than it is to spend $100 for 300 clicks which people may or may not buy."

I just feel like it was throwing money away for me. BUT, I would like to make a better go at it. I'll let you know how it goes when I finally get started with it again. I might also try MSN like mentioned in the comments.

Thanks a bunch!! :D

I have found that my best results have come from Google adwords with fresh leads everyday. Once you have set up an account make sure sure regularly check it to find out which keywords or placements are bringing in the most traffic.
Good luck and best wishes.

I have had good experiences with AdWords, even though I dont really sell a thing. I recently tried http://www.topokey.com as well. Both seemed to have worked great.

I didn't have good results with google adwords. Partly because I used it to test the accuracy of the searches that I got it from keywords tools. It helps me to determine whether I should optimize certain keywords for my adsense site. It happens many times that the number of searches obtained from keywords tools deviate very much from the actual searches.

To me, I always think that the learning curve is very deep and there are a lot of factors such as quality score, relevancy of the ads, keywords groups and etc that will affect your ads.

I just did a Google Adwords Campaign and It ended. I only had one signup for $60.00. $2.00 for 30 days. So I did not even break even. I lost. I probably was bidding on the keyword "membership". This is too competitive. I will try to use Ezine Advertising and see how that works out. I think a good way to advertise your site is get an affliate program through ClickBank or PayDot.com. And Then Do A Product Launch. This way you have others to market your product. I have learned that 65 searchs a day, or 2000 searches a month is a good figure to gauge on Google Adwords. Also less than 10,000 competitors. I am still new to this. And If anyone has any advice I would be willing to listen,

Thanks,
Ray.

From my experience, Adwords has worked well in certain types of industries, but not all. For example, it's done well for computer retail, but not for weight loss products.

Another problem could be that your campaign isn't optimized. The key to Adwords is that you have to really get targeted. If you are bidding on keywords that are too broad for your site, it simply won't work.

Also, pay attention to your landing page. Make sure it's designed to convert. You can't always blame the traffic for not converting.

One can also select less competitive keywords. Unless you are an expert, it can be very expensive to bid on the highly competitive keywords when using adsense.

Google adwords is a great way to get traffic but I personally use Google adsense. I think this is very powerful for the beginner in marketing. I usually write an article and then provide a link back to my website and then back to my affiliate website. In my website I have Google adsense advertising so I make a lot of money doing this :) I provide a link in EVERY article I write bck to my website. Wait with adwords if you are a newbie at this. That is my suggestion.
